"In 1997 the retreat was in Pinecrest, I had around 90 days clean and my first sponsor made sure that I went.  I was still tore up from active addiction, but nothing could stop the love I felt from the men when they welcomed me home.  I have since grown to know many of these men on a much deeper level.  It is the most important thing that I do yearly for my recovery, and each of the seven retreat's that I have attended since,  hold a special place in my heart.  I love you guys for showing me a new way to live, because I know that those who attend retreat's regularly stay clean.  I was on last year's retreat committee and if my higher power guides me in that direction, I will do it again.  If you are new to recovery and are feeling a little fear or intimidation, that's ok.  Go to the Men's retreat anyway, that's all part of the process, I hope you feel the love that I have been afforded..."

"I went to my 1st Men's Retreat with only 21 days clean. It was one of
the best experiences of my life and it changed the way I look at
things. Today I have 337 days clean. Thank-you Narcotics Anonymous
for teaching me a new way of life through the 12 Steps. Before I came
to NA I had no family and very few friends. But now I have more
friends and am not alone anymore. I can't wait for the next retreat
with family and friends. One more time I'm very  grateful, Thank-you
Narcotics Anonymous."

My first men's retreat was at Pinecrest in 97.  I had between 30 and 60 days clean.  I remember going to the "secrets workshop" very much afraid.  By the time the meeting ended, I learned that there was nothing to be afraid of after all.  We all shared our secrets with each other, and accepted each other, regardless of what our secrets were.  I can't begin to describe the bonding that took place around that small group of men.  I thank my higher power that I was given the opportunity, to join in that experience.  I am now living in Salem, Oregon as of last year, and am proud to share with members here, the recovery that I brought with me from Modesto.
